Fan Wencheng, the first strategist of the founding of the Qing Dynasty.

Every feudal dynasty had its outstanding strategists. The Qin Dynasty had Li Si, the Han Dynasty had Zhang Liang, the Three Kingdoms period had Zhuge Liang, the Eastern Jin Dynasty had Wang Meng, the Tang Dynasty had Li Mi, the Song Dynasty had Zhao Pu, the Yuan Dynasty had Yelü Chucai, and the Ming Dynasty had Liu Ji. Today, we will talk about Fan Wencheng, the first strategist of the founding of the Qing Dynasty. Fan Wencheng was born in 1597 and died in 1666. His courtesy name was Xiandou, and his pen name was Huiyue. He was from Shenyang, Liaodong. He was a 17th-generation descendant of Fan Zhongyan, a famous prime minister of the Northern Song Dynasty. He served four emperors of the Qing Dynasty: Taizu, Taizong, Shizu, and Shengzu. He was a prominent minister in the early Qing Dynasty, and many of the regulations established at the beginning of the Qing Dynasty were his creations. He was considered the foremost civil official. Fan Wencheng loved reading from a young age and passed the imperial examination at the county school in Shenyang in the 43rd year of the Wanli reign (1611) at the age of 18. In 1618, the 46th year of the Wanli Emperor's reign, the Later Jin Eight Banners army captured Fushun. Fan Wencheng proactively sought an audience with Nurhaci, becoming one of the founding fathers of the Qing Dynasty. It can be said that without Fan Wencheng, the Qing Dynasty's chances of seizing power would have been significantly reduced, and even its very existence would have been questionable. The Kangxi Emperor, a figure of unparalleled wisdom, remarked: "Fan Wencheng's strategies are worth a million soldiers." Therefore, Fan Wencheng's strategic planning and tactical mastery truly made unparalleled contributions to the Qing Dynasty. Fan Wencheng was highly capable; although a Han Chinese who served the Manchus, he was diligent and hardworking, a truly invaluable advisor to the founding emperor. He retired after achieving great success and died a peaceful death, truly a brilliant strategist and advisor to the Qing Dynasty.
