My Jade Childhood

Every time I gently stroke my right hand, many childhood "funny things" float before my eyes, and my thoughts drift far away without me even realizing it...

When I was little, I was very naughty and careless, always looking for challenges and thrills. At just eight months old, I had a tendency to climb—I loved climbing to the top of the sofa. After much practice, I became incredibly fast at climbing the sofa. Once, when my parents weren't looking, I shot up to the top of the sofa like an arrow. Reaching the "peak," I felt incredibly happy, my chin slightly raised, revealing a pair of shallow dimples on either side of my crescent-shaped mouth, as if I were showing off! But then, I slipped, and my bottom splattered with two peculiar little flowers...

As I grew older, I remained just as naughty, often getting into funny situations because of my mischief, and always ending up with "bruises" all over my body.

Instead of climbing "peaks," I played on the trampoline. There was a mattress in front of the TV at home, and I loved to jump and bounce on it while watching cartoons. My parents always tried to reason with me, but I always ignored them.

When I was in kindergarten, my "trampoline" behavior became even more frequent. One evening, my parents were watching cartoons with me, and I was jumping on the bed again, my bright eyes following the animation closely, my facial expressions changing with the characters' fates, gesturing wildly. I kept my eyes glued to the screen as I jumped, often making strange noises. Suddenly, I slipped and fell heavily onto the bed, unable to move. My mother quickly picked me up, and she and my father rushed me to the orthopedic hospital. The examination revealed a sprained ligament in my right hand; thankfully, there was no fracture, but I couldn't move it temporarily.

After more than twenty days of recuperation, my hand fully recovered. Having learned my lesson, I gradually became more restrained and behaved better while watching cartoons. Everyone has a period of ignorance in their childhood; sometimes mischief is inevitable. Only after going through it do we learn right from wrong. This is what is meant by "Those who don't listen to their elders will suffer the consequences."
