If one day I suddenly disappear, perhaps occasionally someone will remember my existence, the laughter I brought, and will still think of me a little. But perhaps soon, no one will remember what I look like anymore, and everyone will return to their own lives.
Time is the best healer; it doesn't leave people in perpetual pain. Similarly, time makes people forget everything unimportant, everything that shouldn't have been in their lives in the first place—including appearance, personality, temperament, and the things they did, whether beneficial or not—all forgotten, as if they never existed. If one day I'm gone, I can't imagine how long it will take for everyone I've met to forget my name, my appearance, my personality. Maybe quickly, maybe they won't even care. If one day I'm truly gone, then I believe that soon everyone will return to their own lives, and I will be forgotten, because time, under the baptism of time, nothing intangible or nonexistent can resist time; it will be completely obliterated. So, I understand: if one day I cease to exist, who remembers and who doesn't will no longer matter. Will all the mistakes no longer trouble others? If that's the case, then I don't need to worry. Perhaps some people are born to be remembered, and some are born to be forgotten. But, if I'm gone one day, who will finish what I haven't done? Who will do it for me? No one—that's terrifying. I still have so much to do, so many regrets to undo. If I'm gone… no, perhaps my very existence was a mistake.
