First of all, mere solitude doesn't make you stand out; it only makes you an outsider. There's a saying: "You have to enter to leave." How can you stand out if you don't fit in?
While traditional Chinese lifestyles certainly have their flaws, judging by Western standards is biased! Many gatherings in Western society are excessive socializing, and modern clubs are mostly derived from Western salons, not traditional guilds. Chinese people have virtually no social life, or rather, no personal social life. Traditional social occasions now consist mainly of family-based events like weddings, funerals, and birthday banquets… Most individually organized events are Western in origin, and they're becoming increasingly vulgar and extravagant! Traditional Chinese culture emphasizes self-discipline in solitude and individual freedom; it's reminiscent of Mencius's saying, "Even if there are thousands of people against me, I will not go."
Simply being alone doesn't equate to being outstanding; it only makes you an outsider. What truly makes you stand out is the ability to endure loneliness while also fitting in!
